Position Title: Mechanical Engineering Intern

Brief Summary of Position Purpose:
The Mechanical Engineering Intern position will provide value for the company in the form of engineering help while enabling a current student to obtain real world engineering experience that will aid them in their immediate studies, help them develop as engineers, and guide them in their future industry and job preference.
- Work under the direction of an Engineering Group Leader or Engineering Manager
- Learn or expand knowledge of 3D modeling and Finite Element Analysis(FEA) software

- Learn and apply Drawing Change Request process and create engineering DCRs as needed
|
- Learn and apply troubleshooting techniques and solve defined engineering problems under guidance
- Create test plans for mechanical and electrical testing of products
|
- Assist in “hands on” mechanical and electrical testing of products
- Learn and apply mechanical and electrical testing techniques
|
- Learn and display effective, clear, concise and professional verbal and written communication
|
- Learn and use internal business systems, processes and procedures
|
- Interface with fabrication, assembly and quality personnel on the manufacturing floor
|
- Compile data, perform calculations and analysis under guidance
|
- Document new designs by creating technical reports, drawings or manufacturing procedures
- Follows all company and job-specific safety rules and regulations

- Ability to work independently or in groups
- Strong time management, organization and planning skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information on technical topics
- Knowledge of mechanics, dynamics and strength of materials
- Basic knowledge of linkages, motors, gears, chains and material selection
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Demonstrated proficiency with the following equipment/tools:
- Basic hand tools – wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, tape measure, spring scale, dial calipers
Credentials, certifications & Industry-Specific Experience
- Student at an ABET accredited college or university working towards a B.S.M.E., B.S.M.E.T. or M.S.M.E degree
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, grasp and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be comfortable performing all basic office tasks in a professional environment, including extended bouts of walking, standing, sitting, and being attentive to desktop computer monitors.
- Standard personal protective equipment (PPE) required while on the shop floor or in other work area where mandated (i.e. steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and/or other applicable PPE).
