Lathe Machinist/Programmer (2nd Shift)

First Shift CNC/Lathe Machinist/Programmer

 First shift works eight hours per day Monday thru Friday from 6 AM to 2:30 PM with a half hour flex start and end time.

We are seeking a skilled machinist/programmer with experience in Mazatrol CNC and PartMaker CAD/CAM software.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Code writing and programming of Tsugami Swiss Lathe.
  • Setting up and operating CNC lathe (Swiss)
  • Must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing and sanding.
  • Performs routine dimensional and visual inspection of product per procedure, specification or print using basic measuring equipment (calipers, micrometer, scales, indicators, and SPC equipment).
  • Solves tooling issues by identifying productivity of tooling, evaluating tooling performance, and evaluating new tooling requirements. Report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor or management.
  • Maintain focus on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate with other team members within their department as well as other departments in order to complete job assignments
  • Ensures that the work area and equipment are kept clean.
  • Maintains safety practices related to machining; (wear protective clothing, eye glasses, and steel toe shoes as required).
  • Willingness to work overtime, when necessary
  • Assist in other work areas and all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Requires ability to listen, follow directions, and a minimum of 3 years of programming and/or operating experience.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing (basic oral instructions, simple written memos and instructions.)
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, follow routers, use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use basic hand-held measuring tools.
  • High school diploma required. Graduation from a technical school, preferred
  • Prior use of Cam Software preferred
  • Cooperative team player

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Machine shop/manufacturing environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Some moderate lifting required. Some push/pulling of objects.
  • Repetitive hand and lifting tasks.
